Myraeth’s Oddities is the premier establishment in Delver’s Square for buying and selling miscellaneous magic items, potions, rings, wands, and scrolls. Positioned on the bustling cobblestones of Midtown’s most famous hub, it serves as an essential rest-and-refit stop for adventurers returning from the depths of the Dungeon.
The storefront is distinctive, fronted by reinforced stone walls, heavy iron-banded shutters, and a massive oak door etched with glowing protective runes. Inside, the shop has a fascinating, scholarly atmosphere, resembling a cross between a high-end curiosity museum and a wizard’s private study. Velvet-lined glass cases display everything from minor alchemical curiosities to powerful magical relics recovered from the subterranean world.
The most important operational rule to remember when sending your party here is that Myraeth strictly does not deal in weapons or armor. If characters want to buy or sell martial gear, they will be politely but firmly redirected across the square to Rastor’s Weapons or the Bull and Bear.
PF2e Shop Rules & Vault Inventory Matrix
Behind the GM screen, use this framework to govern how the party interacts with the shop’s economy:
The Buying and Selling Matrix
-
Magic Items, Consumables, and Curiosities: Myraeth will purchase identified magic items, potions, rings, wands, and scrolls from the party at the standard 50% of the item’s gold piece value.
-
The Non-Martial Rule: If the party attempts to sell magical longswords, enchanted breastplates, or firearms, Myraeth will entirely refuse the transaction.
-
Inventory Level: As a premier shop in a major high-magic metropolis, Myraeth’s Oddities typically carries common magic items up to Item Level 10 in stock. Uncommon or higher-level items rotate frequently based on what local delvers have recently salvaged.
Specialized Services: Item Identification
If the party brings in an item with the Magical trait that requires identification, Myraeth can be hired to perform the Identify Magic exploration activity using his advanced skill in Arcana, Occultism, Religion, or Nature.
-
Cost: 10% of the item’s standard market value (minimum 5 gp).
-
Benefit: Using Myraeth bypasses the party’s daily check limits and guarantees an accurate identification, completely removing the risk of a critical failure misidentifying a cursed item.
Under-the-Hood: Security & Wards
Because magic is culturally ubiquitous in Ptolus and low-level spells surprise no one, Myraeth’s shop is protected like an absolute vault to deter invisible thieves and magical compulsion.
-
The Anti-Compulsion Ward: The entire interior is under a permanent magical ward that heightens the Will DCs of all creatures inside against Mental, Charm, and Compulsion traits. Attempting to cast a spell like charm to lower prices is an immediate city crime and triggers a silent alarm directly connected to Midtown Watchhouse Post 4.
-
True Sight Scanners: Suspended above the main counter is a localized, clockwork-mounted glass lens enchanted with a permanent See the Unseen effect, mapping out the presence of any invisible or shifted entities trying to pocket inventory.
-
Physical Backup: Myraeth employs two silent, heavily armored stone golems disguised as decorative statues in the corners of the room, ready to physically subdue any rowdy mercenaries who think a wizard’s shop is an easy target.
