📍 Overview

Caer Kurgas is a grand, 5,000-year-old metropolis serving as the thriving capital of Upper Kighfalton and the fortified seat of House Ne’Klosh, from which Overlord Ne’Klosh coordinates his aggressive bid for the Imperial Throne. Rebuilt following near-total destruction in the Civil Wars era, the city stands as a model of advanced urban planning featuring wide streets, an orderly grid pattern, industrial centers for manufacturing and glassblowing, and a booming, highly secure banking sector that offers “no questions asked” discretion to wealthy nobles, criminals, and adventurers alike. However, this glittering veneer of massive prosperity is deeply fractured by a dangerous structural underbelly. Displaced by the city’s new aqueducts and sewers, vengeful hordes of subterranean Goblins and Ratlings launch nightly raids alongside aggressive, newly formed thieves’ guilds to abduct the surface elite directly from their beds. Most terrifyingly, the metropolis is stalked by a powerful, ancient “family” of vampires ruling from hidden catacombs beneath the docks. The local nobility willfully ignores this blight, driving helpless, terrorized citizens to abandon powerless temples and secretly bargain with demonic dark gods, transforming the capital into an active, high-stakes hunting ground for crusaders, witch hunters, and occult researchers from across the realm.

🗺️ Points of Interest

  • The Kurgas Banking Quarter The economic heart of the northern coast, home to an elite network of banks renowned across the world for their absolute discretion and ‘no questions asked’ policy. These vaults are used by Western nobility, cutthroat adventurers, high-profile criminals, and renegade alchemists to store astronomical fortunes, protected by heavy magical wards and structural defenses designed to withstand anything short of a dragon or an earth elemental.

  • The Gridworks Districts A triumph of modern imperial engineering and urban planning, this manufacturing powerhouse was built completely from scratch following the devastation of the Civil Wars. The sprawling grid layout features wide, orderly streets buzzing with commercial activity, glassblowing kilns, spice-grinding factories, and industrial dockworks that generate unprecedented wealth for the merchant class.

  • The Sovereign Catacombs An ancient, claustrophobic subterranean network snaking far beneath the busy dock areas and shady districts of town. This dark underbelly is ruled in absolute secrecy by a massive and terrifyingly powerful ‘family’ of vampires who hunt the city’s lost souls; though the local nobles pretend the blight doesn’t exist, the terrorized citizens clutch holy symbols every night to protect themselves from the predators below.

  • The Displaced Sewers The brand-new, advanced sewer and aqueduct systems threading beneath the grid streets. While praised by surface engineers, their construction violently displaced vast indigenous populations of non-humans—primarily vengeful Ratlings and Goblins—who now use the tunnels as staging grounds to mount brutal nightly raids, taking special delight in dragging wealthy aristocrats right out of their beds.

  • The Occult Enclaves A booming sector of dark churches, forbidden temples, and occult research libraries born out of sheer desperation. Because the traditional local priesthoods proved entirely powerless against the vampire threat, many terrorized citizens secretly gather here to bargain with and worship demons, deevils, and gods of darkness, turning the city into a prominent, high-stakes hunting ground for witch hunters, undead-slayers, and holy crusaders arriving from the south.
